CompassionMD Direct Virtual Care & Privacy Policy

At CompassionMD, our goal is to make high-quality care accessible and convenient for you and your household. To ensure safe, effective, and legally compliant care, please review the following important information before using our services:

  Prescription Policy

No guarantee of medication. A virtual visit does not guarantee that a prescription will be provided. Whether a prescription is written is solely at the discretion of the licensed clinician based on their professional judgment and what is medically appropriate.

No controlled substances. Our clinicians do not prescribe DEA-controlled medications (including opioids, benzodiazepines, stimulants, or other drugs with high abuse potential) through virtual visits.

Some medications may not be available virtually. While most common prescriptions can be written, there are some medications that cannot be safely or legally prescribed online. If an in-person visit is needed, your clinician will advise you.

Refills are limited. When appropriate, short refills may be issued. Certain medications may require an in-person evaluation before renewal.

State and federal law compliance. State and federal law compliance. Prescribing is always subject to applicable state and federal regulations and may vary based on where you are located at the time of your visit.

Pharmacy fulfillment. Any prescriptions provided will be sent electronically to the pharmacy of your choice, and you are responsible for the cost of your medication.

  Policies & Procedures

Not for emergencies. Do not use CompassionMD for emergency medical needs. If you are experiencing a medical or mental health emergency, call 911 or go to the nearest emergency department.

Best for non-emergency care. Virtual visits are ideal for many routine and urgent issues but are not a full replacement for all in-person care. Your provider may recommend an in-person follow-up when necessary.

Location requirements. You must be physically located in a state where your clinician is licensed at the time of your visit. Certain services may be unavailable in some states.

Informed consent. By using CompassionMD, you acknowledge that you understand the nature of telehealth visits, including potential technology limitations, and agree to proceed.

Clinical discretion. Clinicians may decline to treat, recommend in-person care, or withhold a prescription if they determine it is not medically appropriate or not permitted by law.

Care coordination. When requested, visit notes can be shared with your primary care provider or other treating clinicians to support continuity of care.
